A scribbled note on crumpled, blood stained, paper, the first real clue in the kidnapping of Millionaire heiress: Prunella Vandembaker. She was abducted from her New York home and smuggled across Europe by her ruthless captor. The Police are clueless. Desperate, the family turns to Coleman Lewis, a washed up PI, down on his luck.
The note could be the key to cracking the case: If the girl and her kidnappers are on that train it could be his last chance to save her before she disappears into the Russian tundra. But when he gets to the station he watches the lights of the train disappearing into the stormy night. Lewis sets off in pursuit, pushing his stolen car to the limit, and he catches up with the train just before the border.
Lewis explorers the deserted train, finding only empty compartments and corpses, but he soon discovers the girl, and her kidnapper, but things are not how they seem. Lewis soon finds himself, captive, in the middle of a fiendish scheme. How will Lewis escape the 8.33 to Moscow.
